Re: GEORGE TREMLETT - SLADE
The picture's great. Don looks happy (lunchtime-refreshed?), Nod's hat suits him, Dave has the classic "horse" look, and Jim's the Svengali figure. Is there an English version?

Re: "REVEAL!!!" - THE NOIZE - SECOND EDITION PAPERBACK COVER
I'll buy it and get Lea-Holdered,
So's not to get cold-shouldered;
I'll Dave and Don my best boater,
In order to get my Slade quota.
Barns are good for crop-storing,
And dancing, drinking and jawing,
The subject at hand being Slade,
And all the fine records they made.

Re: "REVEAL!!!" - THE NOIZE - SECOND EDITION PAPERBACK COVER
Am confused (must buy the book!). When did Slade start/stop releasing on Barn? That's the label I think of when Slade are mentioned. Polydor makes me think of Rainbow (and Purple post-'84), and baked beans (the colour). Know this was dealt with in Chris Charlesworth's book, but I lost it. :D ...

Re: SO HERE IT IS.... DISCUSSION (WARNING contains spoilers)
This is fascinating stuff! Every great live album has had some tinkering, with the exception of Purple's Made in Japan - that's probably authentic because the band didn't give a toss about it until they heard it.

Re: THE WORLD ACCORDING TO NODDY HOLDER
I like it (7 points), but...
Well, Nod has always given the impression of being one of the least egotistical people in rock. This book often corrects that notion, it seems. I ignore 99% of celebrities - if they're not witty and able to laugh at themselves, they're best avoided. Maybe all the post ...

It's not a bad book, as such. The pictures are good, and the graphics/layout. The text's quite good - it's just a bit short.

Re: The best of the books
May change vote once I've read Don's bio, but voted for the Charlesworth title for now. It's excellent. His Deep Purple book was really good as well.

I loved it too. Even the bit about pissing in the petrol-tank!

Re: CHRIS CHARLESWORTH - SLADE: FEEL THE NOIZE
It's a great book, and it was written at exactly the right time. Slade's second wave of popularity was in full swing (and only one man was still wearing horrid clothes). There was no reason to think, in 1984, that Slade would succumb to the ego problems that apparently were just around the corner ...
