I know what you mean. Amazon book pricing is an odd thing.
I contacted customer services and they said return it and re-order at the lower price.
Which is what I will do.

Amazon UK have dropped the price of the hardback from £40 to £25.20 - get it while that price lasts!! It will end up going back up.
If you have paid £40 or equivalent for it, you can do a return on the basis of the price going better and re-order at cheaper price.
If your copy was the higher price and hasn't been dispatched yet, I'd cancel and re-order.



We've had moans on facebook that names are not in the book. If your name isn't in the back of the book, it is probably because you didn't ask us to put it in. Or in one case, asked us to take it out... We added names very carefully from this page and the forum. Requests to be added elsewhere would not have been seen.

Too late for me as I'm well along with reading the book and have tossed the packaging. C'est La Vie!

It's arrived. Few dents on corners but am not sending back. I sent a strongly worded email about price drop, they suggested sending it back and reordering. I settled for a £5 credit. The book looks very lush and a full review will be posted on Amazon and copied to here soon.

Reading mine, got to 1977, so far so good

Started read through it...in no particular order! Great read. Cannot tell the difference between the 1st Edit and this one about the time span from 71 up to let`s say 1980 with breaks at 1977 or so...but it`s a bloddy entertaining read and worth any penny...the hardcover looks, weights and feels valuable...the paper is of good quallity as are the most of the prints(Fotos) as long as they`re not too old and the source`s are newspapers from early 60s...the rest is about my sore eyes...needd new glasses for reading or contact lenses...soon...but that`s...no the Book is fantastic!

Second edition paperback December 1st.

I just received it from Amazon France, thank you both for your excellent work. So I have the first edition, that of the convention, and the 2021 edition, now remains to read all this information, bravo to you both.

I paid £40.00, but consider that a bargain! The new hardback edition is so good, it makes my soft back old edition look gauche.
The layout of the new one is much improved, and it now looks like a volume that OMNIBUS would publish, it's THAT good.
The extended text about Dave's music is fab, and there's tons of additional comment, pictures and data:- THIS IS AN AWESOME BOOK.

This book is a MUST, (not just for SLADE fans), but for any vinyl-junkie-rock fan, coz SLADE covered the golden age of rock / pop music and vinyl records, all centered around the greatest rock decade ever, the 1970's.

So, a HUGE PHAT THANKS to Ian & Chris (top blokes that they obviously are) for producing the book, and thank God for SLADE who provided the subject matter.

This new edition is so damn good, that it makes my 1st edition paperback look gauche.
This 2nd edition hardback is a much better layout and packed with even more greyt SLADE anorak stuff.
It's not just for the ardent SLADE fan, but for rock fans and vinyl junkies too; Because SLADE covered the golden age of rock & pop & vinyl, the 1970's.
I've sent links to the book on AMAZON to orl me "SLADE - MATES" and shared my elation at the sight of my copy!
I'm so proud to be a friend of THE NOIZE, a face on this forum and fortunate enough to grow up & olde with SLADE in my life.

Thank you . So far , I think , we have had nothing but a positive response to the book which is all we can hope for . If anyone wants to spread the news to other Slade "fan" websites / FB page please feel free to . I have sent mine back and given the reason as better price, it has been accepted. I have ordered a replacement at the same time, a refund would have been easier.

I am reading it mainly on the loo yet(Pardon) and I have to say, as I was guessing from the first Page Peeps...it`s excellent! A bloddy good read...tho I have`nt compare it to the 1st Edit...I relay on my memory...and this Edit is as far as I can tell far more into detail and has so much more info on releases...what to say? Fantastic work!

The extra 90 pages are the result of some 7 hour days and editing 'til 2.30am here and Chris sending me things I had never heard of.

The font is smaller and we got 90 more pages over the first edition.
