THE NOIZE - SECOND EDITION news and reviews
Posted: March 26th, 2021, 4:15 pm

There will be a second edition of our Slade discography book.
The page count has gone up quite a lot and the number of releases that we have added surprised us.
We have still not resorted to putting Polish postcard discs in it though.
We don't know the publishing date yet. We are awaiting some new release information and doing some formatting and editing / adding.
Furiously editing away at odd hours of the day and night.
It will still be THE BOOK.

I guess this is the correct topic for this...
Chris and I have been doing quite an amount to the book. Now on 267 pages, with a totally new cover that we think people will love. We are awaiting new Jim Lea release information, but have set a date for the second edition, whether the new stuff is available or not. We are looking at November 1st.
There will not be a third edition of the book. Two is enough.

The location can't be seen on Google maps as it is a private road.
Fortunately, we set about doing Holmes and Watson to find the exact location....

GREAT! What a lovely sidestreet, especially on a sunny day. Compare to the PiL Cover where it looks dark and kinda bleak. Perfectly suiting the Skinhead Image. Great work of Mankowitz and Co !!!

The first edition of THE NOIZE is being taken off sale on June 30th.
The second edition should be available on November 1st.
As well as having a brand new cover with a totally iconic Slade image on the front, it is being massively expanded.
New releases. New images. New information.

As a slight twist to the winding down of the first edition of THE NOIZE at the end of the month.
A BIT OF NEWS...
We got an email the other day from Amazon, inviting us to take part in a beta publishing trial which would enable us to offer HARDBACK BOOKS.
The authors obviously want a hardback copy for ourselves and THE NOIZE will be taken out of print at the end of June, but we have set a hardback version to publish until then, so check out the Amazon page for the book if you desperately want one. It should appear any time now. The content in this limited Hardback Edition is equivalent to the slightly expanded Convention Edition, though any mentions of the Convention are not included.
For those who are wondering whether to bother with the limited hardback or not, the very very much expanded Second Edition of the book, which we intend to be the very final word on the Slade Discography, will be out on November 1st and we are hoping that this Beta Trial is successful and that we will be able to offer a choice of hardback or softback of the second edition at that point. So unless you're desperate, wait 'til November.
The book will remain in print until any hardback orders are fulfilled.
I have also made Six Years On The Road available as a hardback with a new front cover.

If anyone can help with high quality scans of foreign releases that are not in THE NOIZE we'd be really grateful for that help.
What we are looking for is reflection-free clear scans or photos of covers and labels that we don't have.
We don't want images from Discogs, as there is a copyright issue.
We also don't need foreign releases that are almost identical to the general releases.
We're looking for unique and different stuff.
Please message ADMIN if you have anything that you think would go well in the final edition of the book.
Thanks.

Obviously, anything that's going into the book, there has to be an existing copy that can be scanned for an illustration.
Nothing will get into the book where the existence isn't proved.

Well, I thought the first "THE NOIZE" book was incredible . . . and now there's more? Brilliant! Why "share" pic of building must not be "shared anywhere"? Bit daft, if you ask me. Tell you wot, don't ask me! Hah!

Some things from the book are
exclusive in advance to the forum and
you're trusted not to post them elsewhere.
Also, it's somebody's home and I asked specifically a couple of times that it not be shared.

Someone has shared the image that was exclusive to the book and the forum to Facebook.
I had thought I could trust people and evidently i was quite wrong.
There will be no more sneak peeks of brand new stuff.

I right clicked on the above photo to open in a new tab so I could read it and it took me to the Facebook page, it seems like the unmentionable person has made a comment.

What's great is when things like the unreleased Noddy Holder and Ruby Turner duet turn up and we get good background information.
We have our sights set on some other recordings too.
They will be put in the book as they come to light.
