I haven't got a copy yet - but I'm guessing it is somewhere between Stark Bilge and Shakespeare ;)

Couldn't quite work out the reason for the book....

My thoughts...

Noddy couldn't bring himself to mention a certain band member by name...

Nod saying how he needs his privacy and would never do a photo-shoot in the privacy of his home.... but in another breath goes deep into his private affairs telling graphic details of his mother's death....

And as for the 'story' about meeting those three famous people in one day.... I don't believe it! I have it verified about him meeting one of the three, but the others? All in one day?! When Slade were struggling for press in the late 1970's surely he would have 'told' this story at the time to get the band press...???

I've only read part of the book, which has been ok so far. I think the difference about this book is it's more about Noddy Holder as the person and what he has been up to post-Slade. His so called autobiography was more about Slade than a true autobiography

Dave, are you able to offer even the initials of the band member in question? Given we're discussing a published book, surely we don't need to be coy about it?! :P

I can only wonder why there would be any tension between Nod and Jim ... any ideas anyone?

Jim's continued grumpiness at H probably wears Nod down.
He has sounded exasperated at how they behave when in a room together.

But is Jims grumpiness towards H justified?

Given Noizefeeler wrote " ...Noddy couldn't bring himself to mention a certain band member by name... " (in Nod's new book), it just seems to me that there must be something bigger than Jim's continued grumpiness at H that has Nod off side. Of course I am only speculating ...

Whatever, considering we've just moved into the second half of the second decade of the new millennium, it is a shame that the four originals don't seem to get along as well as we would like them to.

I like it (7 points), but...

Well, Nod has always given the impression of being one of the least egotistical people in rock. This book often corrects that notion, it seems. I ignore 99% of celebrities - if they're not witty and able to laugh at themselves, they're best avoided. Maybe all the post-Slade adulation has overpowered the poor fellow, but I thought Neville Holder, the man, was more interesting than the average person-in-the-public-eye. It's slightly disappointing to find that he says:

* He was a babe-magnet even before Slade made the big-time;
* He attacked a taxi-driver, and is generally a pugilist;
* All this media stuff is more fun than Slade.

A lot of what he's done does seem justified, especially his unwillingness to put touring before family, but... He's a much harder person than he seemed.

I bought a copy at Sainsbury's on Thursday, just happened to be driving past one and thought "what the heck, it's worth a try"

A very easy read if you treat it like a natter with Nod. He deals with the Big Question immediately and that was good enough for me. His relationship with Dave is mentioned too and all seems well there.

He is still a major name in UK showbiz and has had more adventures and opportunities than the rest of us could imagine so I did enjoy his more personal stories and opinions. Even the way he chose to write about his own parents passing was interesting. No matter who we are in life we all need to deal with heartache at some point.

Overall, this book is one for the fans and I'm glad I bought it. *nod

Nods new book

Post by Marcus Wright »

I´ve read it now. Found it in the section of "Irrelevant facts by the author". It was that sections Top best seller. The second biggest selling book in that section was " 10 different ways to flush a toilet. If Nods book hadnt been an E book I would have tried one of the suggestions from the second biggest selling book and applied it on the biggest selling book.

I haven't read the book but could you specify your criticism a bit more?

Yes I can. I dont know what kind of expectations I had with this book because I wasn’t sure what it was going to be about. But it was a book about a mans reflections about the modern world of the 21´st century. The danger with social networks, cellphones, vain politicians and celebrities etc. Basically things that my parents go on about everytime I see them. There is nothing wrong with his reflections but Noddy Holder has lived an interesting life and to have to read page after page things that all of us already know and hear everyday seems pointless.

When I read a book about an interesting person and who´s qualities I have appreciated over the years I want to be able to raise my eyebrow sometimes and think, Hey, that was interesting, I´ve never heard that before! I´m sorry to say that I didn’t raise my eyebrows once while reading this book. And I´m not saying don’t buy this book because we all have different opinions about
what is good or bad. What he wrote in his book are things that I hear on a daily basis from my older co-workers and my parents and I will most likely become like that too 10-15 years from now. I just wish that he could have told us about more Slade related stuff because that’s what he is famous for in the first place. Anybody who has read Dons bio knows that there are more stories to be told and this was his chance to do it.

Okee, thanks. Will probably buy the book anyway being a fan but now I know what to expect a little, I also hoped that his view on life and society would be a little different but no earthshaking theories in this book then :)

We just happened to be in Scotland in May, and my wife bought a copy for me at Waterstones in Inverness.

It's at the top of my reading list, but I haven't had a chance to get started yet.

I bought it & read it, then put it in the charity shop. A pointless book stained with Noddy's dubious and rather draconian views and opinions. shame, I like Noddy Holder. :o :?:
