That is an excellent and very fair question.
The book price is down to Amazon to a huge degree.
They take 40% of the price. Out of our 60% of £40, we pay for 'print on demand' for each book.
For the 300 page hardback (as opposed to 205 pages), that costs us £17.50.
The remainder: £6.50 - is split between Chris and myself. A drink each.

If we had done the book at the £30 price that I fancied, we would have got £0.25p each.
If we could do it cheaper and make something back, we honestly would.
It really is more of a labour of love than a get rich quick scheme.
I personally just want a copy on my bookshelf. Anything else is a bonus.

Expanded distribution reduces our share down to 40% and we still pay the same print costs out of that.
That's the perils of writing a book that no publisher in their right mind gives a shit about.
If Omnibus had jumped on this, we'd be better off.

Well have just ordered. My third incarnation after buying the original and the author signed 2019 convention edition. I will of course keep all three versions, especially the convention edition as it’s also signed by Don.
Look forward to reading, or rereading the latest volume in nice hardback form.
