The picture's great... Is there an English version?

Yes, it was originally published in late 1974 UTC. I bought it late that year or early 1975. It was a bonanza time for Slade related books as I bought the Tremlett book, the paperback of Slade in Flame, and also the SiF sheet music book all ...

I think it's in George Tremlett's The Slade Story, where it's stated that the song the Lea family were listening to, when Jim's mother-in-law asked him, "Why don't you write a song like that?" was White Christmas recorded by Bing Crosby.

No need to justify cost of The Noize . You and Chris have invested countless hours creating and producing an invaluable reference guide for hardcore Slade fans at a fair price and you are to be commended. It wasn't done for money; it was a labor of love and I, for one, greatly appreciate your ...

Slade's old PR John Halsall popped up on Facebook this week, adding to a topic of mine, saying we hadn't approached him. He's one of those backroom names that you heard once every now and again. It's fair to say that he had lots of opportunities to come forward and make himself known to us before ...

admin wrote: November 6th, 2021, 10:30 am Yup, he's the author of the book, but it's some way off yet. He's still finding people to talk to.

It will very likely be a better book if he refrains from going directly to the source/s and opts to go with (credible) insider options ...

Chris wrote: November 6th, 2021, 7:15 am I have spoken to Daryl on a regular basis since I was interviewed for his book a couple of years ago . He told me last week that they hope to have it published for sometime around the 50th anniversary of "MWACN"

The producers of that program were obviously thinking ahead Mark, because to the best of my knowledge Easlea's book has not yet been finished - let alone published. From your account though, at least it seems promising that it is actually coming!

Book Depository have the publication date down ...

steveclassic wrote: October 25th, 2021, 1:31 am That's very disappointing and definitely not in the spirit of all things Slade. I'll pop the link in now. Seeing as it's the wee small hours in the southern hemisphere it might be up for a little bit.

Done!

... If any members of this forum find any Slade related FB page / website / forum that doesn't mention the book could they please put this link on there .

(Psychic time again ...I can guarantee one page where it will not be mentioned and any attempt to link to it will be deleted *bs )

I bought it & read it, then put it in the charity shop. A pointless book stained with Noddy's dubious and rather draconian views and opinions. shame, I like Noddy Holder. :o :?:

I deliberately avoided this book after reading some reviews and comments about it, for fear of being left with a ...

admin wrote: November 20th, 2019, 12:22 am ... Each band copy contains a letter requesting that they consider a Q&A via email. I will let you know if there is any response.

The paperback will be published on October 3rd and you can already preorder it on Amazon.co.uk
There'll be a Czech edition as well - which is quite funny as no Danish edition has been planned although Don lives in Denmark and I (the author) is Danish!

Stranger things have happened! Good luck ...

mds wrote: September 10th, 2019, 12:11 am I heard a rumor that Chris has contacted his lawyer to have the writing credits on the front cover "single" changed to Selby/Edmundson!

Can people please review it on AMAZON? Thanks.

Will do!

Or is it Pratt and Co,
Newman Mews
London ?

Having now read my way through to the end of 1976, there are several observations in the book that I can only describe as fscinating!

1) The John Peel retrospective review of PIL. I was so blown away with what he had written that I found half an hour of peace this afternoon that I utilised to ...

The Noize

My copy arrived in excellent condition. An initial ten minute skim through the entire book confirmed that this particular tome could have almost been compiled and written especially for me!

Although I am currently only up to page 43 and the release of Take Me Bak ‘Ome in May 1972, I’m ...

... This is where it gets dicey... What is clear after all these years is that Jim created the majority, if not all, of Slade's music from 1972-1991 and probably had a hand in the lyric writing, primarily chorus and song title, as well. He isn't seeking all of the songwriting credit; just ...

Received my copy of The Noize this morning. Arrived in mint condition. After a cursory glance I have to say I am impressed!

Review to follow.

This was published by Buzzfeed News in December 2016:

It might be the best-known Christmas pop song, but one of its co-authors is not so full of festive cheer when it comes to getting credit for writing it.
Jim Lea, the former bass player with Slade, who with singer Noddy Holder wrote "Merry Xmas ...
